The vision of the International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus (ISDE) is to be a leader in the development and dissemination of information about the esophagus. It achieves this through its official journal Diseases of the Esophagus covering all aspects of the esophagus – etiology, investigation and diagnosis, the World Congress, maintaining a network of specialist around the world through membership, virtual presentations on key topics such as esophageal cancer, barrett’s esophagus, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), achalasia, eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), and more.
Professor Prateek Sharma, Gastroenterologist at the University of Kansas School of Medicine and VA Medical Center, served as President of the International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus (ISDE) from 2018-2020. A leader in the field of upper gastrointestinal diseases including Barrett’s esophagus, esophageal cancer, and gastroesophageal reflux disease, Professor Sharma brought a wealth of experience and insight to this key leadership role.
